Sunday. This was the last day that my friend-slash-housemate, Patricia, will be staying in the Philippines. She flew to Singapore last Monday to try her luck there. :( Anyway, Paul, Myke, Pat and I decided to have a good lunch then before she leaves the next day.
Serendra. We decided to eat there. In a Kapampangan restaurant called Abé. The restaurant isn’t a total stranger to me since I’ve been seeing it already, though this will be my first time to eat there. The restaurant’s full when we get there so we had to wait for a few minutes outside and fortunately, it’s their 4th year anniversary! So we had free ice creams from Arce and Abé while waiting for our seats.
Seated. First timer – so I’m taking Paul’s recommendations on what are we gonna order.
Binukadkad na Pla Pla – Php365
An overgrown tilapia, butterflied and fried to crispiness! It’s served with mustasa leaves and balo balo relish, which is buro fermented rice, shrimps, ginger, cooked in olive oil. I personally like the relish, it’s not that strong, kinda tangy and the kick of the ginger matches the fish very well.
Lamb Adobo – Php395
I never thought that Lamb goes well if it’s cooked as adobo. And yes, it does, and IT’S REALLY GOOD! Lamb shoulders cooked the adobo way is my new personal favorite, just like Bencab! Very tender meat and the generous amount of toasted garlic on top adds up to its perfection.
Kare Kare a la Bistro Burgos – P475
I’m really not a fan of Kare Kare, not until this came along. Seriously, this was just the bomb! I like the creaminess of the sauce. Actually the sauce alone can stand as your viand with a cup of steamed rice. That’s how tasty it was. The ox tail was tender as well. And of course, a kare kare isn’t complete without the bagoong, and their version of the bagoong has been cooked in low-fire for 12hours. Now, tell me if that’s not enticing enough.
We ordered ourselves steamed rice to match these delicious entrées. And for the price of Php55 each, you can eat all the rice that you want.
I’m glad that we shared our farewell lunch for Patricia in Abé. The experience was such a delight and yes, it is where good friends dine. :)
